TATTOO-WATCH

Well, in a fit of pique last night I decided that if I were to go for the signature idea I could collect a host of my inspirations autographs on my arm - making it look like a cool plaster cast! And and... I'd have a blog charting my progress and get tips from people as to where I can best ambush my next target.

This morning this seems... slightly insane? Also I'd never be able to get, for example, Kate Bush, or David Lynch.

A similar idea, and a much easier one, is to do similar but with a collage of images. Sort of like a tattoo charm bracelet.

DAD MUSIC

I got a few CDs for my Father this Christmas, ones that he's got LPs of but never updated, so the first 2 Led Zeps, Blodwyn Pig, a best of Billy Fury and one of Jethro Tull, and also something newer; "Raising Sand" the duet album between Alison Krauss and Robert Plant.

This, from "Raising Sand" really stuck out when he was playing it, and I'm now going through all 6 albums, which I ripped before giving to him as I suspected this might happen.

And it reminded me of this, which i've loved for a long time but never remember exists until I dig out Cher Gold;

A sound engineer I worked with had David Bowie's autograph on his forearm. His friend took pictures of him walking up to Bowie (at Phoenix festival) getting the autograph, then walking immediately to the tattoo tent to get it made permanent. The whole process was photographically documented.

The only problem with this is Bowie was using a highly abbreviated signature at this time. So his arm just says "BO 97".

This does have to potential to go very, very wrong.

Theres a lot of power on their side with this, I'd hardly be in a position to ask them be to neat, please, as it's going to be there forever. Logistically, I think a lot of potential targets wouldn't sign it if I said what I was going to do, and I guess some would suss it out anyway and refuse outright?

Well the thought of just having one bit of slanty scribble on my arm seemed a bit weird, and most signatures are quite ugly, which is what spawned the idea of having loads. Having a few at a time makes it into something else, you're seeing it as a whole and not noticing the completely illegible ones, or ones where it accidentally looks like a scribbled penis or something. They could be in different colours and everything!

I hope I don't wake up one day next week and change my mind, its really quite exciting.
